WHAT IS HOLISTIC DENTISTRY?
There are many different terms used to describe that. You may have seen or heard some of the following terms among dentists:
-
Holistic Dentistry
-
Alternative Dentistry
-
Biological Dentistry
-
Unconventional Dentistry
-
Biocompatible Dentistry
-
Mercury-Safe Dentistry

And the list goes on and on.
Holistic dentists believe in something called the “mouth – body – connection”, we assess your oral health as a representation of your total health and wellness, and looking at how your systemic health affects your oral health, in other words, these two are dependent on each other.
Holistic dentists understand that oral health impacts the health of the entire body because the teeth, gums, and mouth are highly integrated with the other body systems.
To Holistic dentists, the body, including the mouth, is a whole or holistic system. Consider the gut, the mouth is the entryway to the gut, and the gut affects the health of everything else. If the mouth able to take in nutritious foods and is not suffering from infection, the gut will be healthy as well, and thereby, the body.
Holistic dentists combine conventional treatment methods with alternative, holistic methods to improve your well-being both systemically and orally, because they believe a blended approach will achieve better results.
Holistic dentists would rather maintain health and prevent disease rather than “get it fixed” after the fact. They do this by performing treatments that have positive long-term effects and by providing advice in areas like nutrition and lifestyle. Their goal is to overcome the root of the problem rather than the symptom in order to prevent future issues.
Holistic dentists understand the “mouth-body connection,” they try to use as minimally invasive treatments as possible in order to protect the health of the body as well as the mouth.
We strongly believe in using only the most biocompatible materials available to minimize your exposure to any toxins that may cause negative systemic problems. We accomplish this by offering:
-
Metal-free, mercury free, BPA-free fillings
-
Ceramic or porcelain crowns
-
Low dose x-rays
-
Safe removal of mercury amalgam fillings
-
Use herbal remedies, homeopathic remedies, medical ozone, infra-red light, and others to stimulate and promote the body’s natural healing process, calm anxiety, alleviate pain and thus create a non-toxic systemic environment during healing.
Provide other medical modalities, such as acupuncture, naturopathy, homeopathy, nutritional counseling, and more to improve your treatment results.
One of the biggest issues in healthcare today is the lack of coordination between a patient’s healthcare providers, we aim to bridge that gap. We spend time listening to you – your concerns, preferences, ideas, and questions and hold that ultimately, you are in charge of your body and your treatment. Only by fully understanding your personal situation and treatment options, you can choose how to proceed with care, directing us as you believe is best.
We provide a natural approach to your oral health and wellness without compromising quality or beauty.
WHAT DOES SHEFAA MEAN & WHAT DOES THE BIRD STAND FOR?
Shefaa or Shifa means “The Healing, Curing, Recovery.”
Shefaa Center is where those who are suffering come to be restored and healed. Where in concert with the Universe Holistic medicine and dentistry will restore health.

The bird is called ‘Simurgh,’ a benevolent, mythical bird in Iranian mythology and literature. It is believed the feathers of the Simurgh heal deep wounds with as little as a touch. Mythology also says when the Simurgh takes flight, it purifies the land and water, bestowing fertility. The Simurgh is associated with medicine and rebirth.
It is believed the Simurgh lived in the Tree of Life, from which the seeds of all plants originated. When the Simurgh took flight, the beating of its wings caused the seeds to scatter all over the world.
